Battery Charging Wind Generators Soma 1000BC and Soma 400BC

The 1000W and 400W Battery Charging Soma Wind Generators are made to match the battery voltage. A controller is connected between the wind generator and the battery. It performs the functions of rectifying the incoming 3 phase AC power from the wind generator, plus diverting any excess power to the built-in dump load. The power diversion is achieved using PWM transistor circuitry. The battery voltage at which diversion occurs is set using the front panel voltage selection control knob.

Where the wind generator is a long distance from the batteries, a transformer is used at the batteries. This allows the use of a 110V Soma wind generator so that cable size between the wind generator and transformer, located near the batteries, is minimized.
